Rod end
Gelenkkopf
A rod end is a ready-to-mount machine element combining a spherical plain bearing with a housing eye and a threaded shank. Shanks come with male or female thread, in right-hand or left-hand versions; a right/left pair allows fine length adjustment of a linkage without dismantling the ends. Rod ends transmit tension and compression along the rod axis while compensating angular movement and misalignment. Relubricatable steel-on-steel versions with grease nipples and maintenance-free versions with self-lubricating liners are available. Typical applications include pneumatic and hydraulic cylinders, push rods, and linkages in agricultural and construction machinery.
