FAG 20317-MB Barrel Roller Bearing (85x180x41)
† Catalogue value, not verified
Description
As a barrel roller bearing, this bearing carries high radial loads and accommodates misalignment. At 85x180x41 mm and a unit weight of 5.24 kg, the installation envelope is fixed; further technical details are held in the specification table. The normal radial clearance keeps the residual play of this self-aligning design within the range that common fits and temperatures lead one to expect.
The barrel roller bearing carries load through a single row of barrel-shaped rollers running on a spherical outer raceway; the roller set thereby aligns itself and the bearing position accommodates misalignment between shaft and housing as well as shaft deflection without producing edge loading. The design is laid out for radial load; axial forces are permissible only to a small extent and belong at a separate bearing position.
The open form has no seal of its own, so sealing, initial filling and relubrication fall to the surrounding construction — and at a self-aligning position it must be noted that the seal has to follow the alignment movement. The normal radial clearance is matched to common fits and operating temperatures at which the operating clearance settles within the intended range.
For the design, radial force, the misalignment to be expected, and the fits and temperature profile should be assessed together. Solid brass cage — Dimensional/form-fit equivalent — verify suffix-level details for critical applications. Matching suffixes are also listed by SKF (M, MA, MB), NSK (M) and NTN (L1, G1, M).
