As with every barrel roller bearing, the single-row set of barrel-shaped rollers aligns itself on the spherical outer raceway and accommodates misalignment and shaft deflection under predominantly radial load. The open form leaves sealing and lubricant retention to the surrounding construction, whose seal must follow the alignment movement of the bearing.
