FAG F515-B-L Flanschlagergehäuse
Description
As a bearing housing, this housing accepts a separately selected bearing insert. The specification table sets out the technical particulars on record. This flanged housing is supplied without a bearing insert: the grey cast iron body provides the seat and the mounting face, while the insert bearing is selected separately. The flanged housing is a housing part without rolling elements and without a raceway: it accepts a separately selected bearing insert, holds it in the spherical or cylindrical seat and transfers the force through the flange into the surrounding structure.
Load and speed ratings therefore belong to the insert, not to the housing; for the design, bore diameter, bolt pattern and flange form are to be matched with the intended insert and the mounting face. Grey cast iron has high compressive strength and damps vibration well, but is more sensitive to impact loading than cast steel, which must be taken into account under shock loads.
The flange requires a flat mounting face square to the shaft axis so that the insert is not distorted; where several bearing positions sit on one shaft, aligned seating must be observed. Sealing, relubrication and corrosion protection are to be derived jointly from the insert and the operating environment.
