Description
As a housed bearing unit, this product combines a housing with a ready-to-mount bearing insert. The specification table sets out the technical particulars on record. A flanged bearing unit is a complete bearing position: housing, bearing and sealing are matched to one another and bolted to the structure as one assembly. The unit combines bearing, housing and sealing into a pre-assembled position that is simply bolted down and locked onto the shaft.
The bearing sits with its spherical outer ring in a correspondingly machined housing bore and can align itself as it is tightened, which absorbs misalignment between the two bearing positions of a shaft — the reason this form dominates conveying, agricultural and processing equipment, where mounting is to sheet metal and welded frames. The flange transfers bearing loads into the structure on its face; that seating surface must be flat and stiff enough, because distortion of the bolting plane transfers straight into the bearing.
For design, what matters is the load direction, access for relubrication, and whether one of the shaft’s two positions has to remain axially free. The contact seal bears against its counterface and closes the rolling chamber against dust, splash water and wash-out; in return it raises frictional torque and limits permissible speed. The corrosion-protective coating shields the surfaces against moisture without changing the dimensions of the bearing position — an alternative to a stainless version where its load ratings would not suffice.
