As a track or cam roller, this component runs directly on a mating track or cam surface. This NKE bearing measures 12x35x10 mm and weighs 0.05 kg; the specification table carries the supplementary technical details. This variant features a contact seal. Where a track roller is to manage without relubrication over the entire life of the plant, a complete closure of the rolling chamber is the precondition for it.

This track roller is closed at both end faces with a contact seal and thereby offers the most extensive closure of the rolling chamber. With this design the benefit is above all one over time: a track roller frequently sits at points of a plant that are hard to reach — in gantries, travelling gear, tensioning stations, deflection points — where scheduled relubrication is not provided for and a failure means downtime.

If the grease charge stays clean because debris, dust and moisture remain outside, the point at which contamination in the rolling contact produces indentations is pushed back markedly. The counterpart has to be weighed explicitly on a roller that is set turning by the contact with its track and not driven: the frictional torque of the bearing lip increases the tendency to slide where the roller only lightly touches its track, and it lowers the permissible speed.

In addition, the seal material limits the operating temperature and the media resistance. Where the track reliably carries the roller along and the environment is dirty or wet, the protection prevails; where the contact force is low or the roller runs fast, a version with lower friction should be examined. The load-carrying construction remains unchanged: the thick-walled outer ring, hardened through the running depth, rotates through the track force, so that the most heavily stressed location travels over the circumference; the hardness, surface finish and course of the mating track belong to the layout. Rings and rolling elements are made of standard bearing steel.
