Description
As an insert (Y) bearing, this bearing is located on the shaft and used in a housing. At 90x190x64 mm and a unit weight of 6.48 kg, the installation envelope is fixed; further technical details are held in the specification table. This variant features a contact seal. This arrangement uses the rotation as a first stage of protection — what is flung off does not have to be held back by the seal.
This version combines two operating principles that complement one another. The co-rotating flinger disc sits on the inner ring side and throws approaching liquid and particles outwards by the rotation; the contact seal behind it catches whatever passes that first stage. The difference from a plain lip seal lies in the wear: a lip works against everything that reaches it and recedes along with the ingress — if the main share is flung off beforehand, it stays effective for considerably longer.
For the insert bearing this is a fitting answer to its typical mounting location, namely the exposed shaft in cleaning, processing and agricultural applications where water regularly strikes the bearing position directly. The limit of the arrangement lies at standstill: without rotation the flinger disc has no effect, so standing water and cleaning at standstill are carried by the sealing stage alone.
In other respects the design remains that of the insert bearing: the outer surface is spherical and sits in the spherical seat of a housing, whereby the bearing position aligns itself to the shaft during mounting; the widened inner ring accommodates grub screws, an eccentric locking collar or an adapter sleeve and thereby grips the drawn shaft directly.
Rings and balls are made of standard bearing steel. A clearance class is not recorded as a separate catalogue attribute for these items. In the selection, the space at the end faces taken up by the flinger discs should be checked.
