As a CARB toroidal roller bearing, this bearing carries high radial loads, accommodates misalignment and permits axial displacement. The dynamic load rating of 196 kN characterises this bearing. The static load rating is 208 kN. The limiting speed is 6700 rpm. This variant features greatly increased radial clearance (C4). One row of long, slightly crowned rollers on concave raceways — the result is a position that reports back neither angle nor expansion to the structure.

One row of long, slightly crowned rollers runs between concave raceways. That geometry lets the roller set both swivel and travel lengthwise, so one and the same position absorbs misalignment and thermal expansion — work that would otherwise need a self-aligning located bearing plus a separate floating one. Because the rollers are long and carry on a line, radial capacity stays high.

In practice: the position transmits no axial force and must not be axially fixed; it belongs where the shaft is meant to stay free. Note that the roller set finds its own central position in service — preloading it through the surrounding structure would remove the very freedom the type was chosen for. The open version leaves sealing, initial filling and relubrication to the surrounding design, while keeping the rolling chamber accessible for a directed supply of lubricant.

The strongly increased radial clearance is intended for pronounced temperature differences between the rings or for very tight fits; without those conditions the bearing runs with unnecessary play.
