Description
As a housed bearing unit, this product combines a housing with a ready-to-mount bearing insert. All available technical details are listed in the specification table. The single seal covers the base case: dry to moderately dusty surroundings in which a single-stage closure of the rolling chamber is sufficient. This version supplies the bearing position as a finished assembly of a grey cast iron housing and a fitted insert bearing.
For the designer this means that no bearing bore with a fit has to be produced in the adjacent construction: a flat mounting face perpendicular to the shaft and the matching bolt pattern are enough. Depending on the version, the shaft is locked by grub screws in an extended inner ring, by an eccentric locking collar, or by an adapter sleeve; which of these is present also determines how the unit is released and exchanged.
The connection between insert and housing is spherical and serves for alignment: an angular offset between the mounting face and the shaft is taken up during mounting, not in continuous running. The single seal closes the rolling chamber in one stage. It keeps out dust and the usual ingress of a dry to moderately loaded environment and limits the escape of lubricant; for continuous water, high-pressure cleaning or fine abrasive dust, a multi-stage seal is preferable.
If the unit has a grease nipple, the relubrication interval belongs in the maintenance plan, since the quantity of grease in the housing is limited. The grey cast iron body is strong in compression and damps vibration, but is more sensitive to shock loading than a steel version; the rings and rolling elements of the insert are made of standard bearing steel.
Load capacity is primarily radial; axial force and tilting moment are to be checked against the data for the size in question.
