When stainless is the right choice
Wherever condensation, splash water, cleaning chemicals or food contact are involved, standard bearing steel corrodes — stainless bearings (typically martensitic AISI 440 / 1.4034) keep running. Typical fields: filling and packaging lines, dairies, meat processing, plating lines, pool technology and outdoor equipment.
Technical considerations
Stainless bearings carry roughly 15–20% less load than standard bearings of the same size and are available with food-grade (H1) or standard grease. For maximum corrosion resistance many manufacturers combine stainless rings with polymer housings — we stock both. Marking depends on the manufacturer: SKF W/VP311 suffixes, FAG/INA S prefix (e.g. S6205), housed units as SS-UC.
