Insert bearing (Y-bearing)
Spannlager
An insert bearing (Y-bearing) is a sealed single-row deep groove ball bearing with an extended inner ring and a spherical (convex) outer ring surface, designed for mounting in housed bearing units. The spherical contour self-aligns in the housing seat, compensating static misalignment.
Shaft attachment options include set screws in the extended inner ring (e.g. UC series), an eccentric locking collar, an adapter sleeve, or a plain cylindrical bore. All allow mounting on commercial drawn shafting without ground bearing seats – a major cost advantage. Insert bearings are grease-filled with contact seals, often relubricatable through the housing, and are used in conveyors, agricultural and packaging machinery.
