As a housed bearing unit, this product combines a housing with a ready-to-mount bearing insert. The specification table holds the available technical details in full. Two sealing stages in series protect the rolling chamber: the first holds back the coarse ingress, the second works against whatever it lets through. A flanged bearing unit is neither a rolling bearing nor a housing but both together: the insert bearing is already mounted in the grey cast iron body, and the unit as a whole is bolted to a wall or plate standing perpendicular to the shaft axis.

The construction is laid out for quick mounting with few tools — the shaft is led through the bore of the insert and locked by the locking method provided, without fits having to be machined or clearance set at the bearing position. Its defining property is adjustability: because the insert sits with its spherical outer surface in a spherical seat in the housing, the unit compensates for an angular offset between the mounting face and the shaft, as is practically always present with separately manufactured or welded frames.

This alignment movement serves to set the unit up during mounting and is not intended as a continuous oscillating motion. The double seal places two stages in series: coarse ingress is intercepted ahead of the actual seal lip so that the lip remains effective for longer — the fitting choice for materials handling, agricultural equipment and environments with dust and occasional water.

The grey cast iron body is strong in compression and damps vibration, but reacts more sensitively to shock loading than a steel housing; the rolling elements and rings of the insert are made of standard bearing steel. For the selection, the bore diameter, the bolt pattern and flange form, the type of shaft locking, and the flatness and squareness of the mounting face should be checked together; the unit is loadable primarily in the radial direction, and axial and tilting loads are to be assessed against the data for the size in question.
