ZEN S1204 Pendelkugellager (20x47x14)

As a self-aligning ball bearing, this bearing compensates for misalignment and shaft deflection. For this ZEN bearing, 20x47x14 mm and a weight of 0.12 kg apply; the specification table holds the further technical particulars. This variant features stainless steel. Where two bearing positions cannot be relied on to align, this is the most forgiving of the ball bearing types.

Two rows of balls run on a common spherical outer raceway whose centre of curvature lies on the bearing axis. The inner ring assembly therefore remains free to swivel inside the outer ring: misalignment between positions and the deflection of long shafts are absorbed without edge loading the raceways. The price of that compliance is the shallow conformity of the spherical outer raceway — the contact area is small, load ratings are correspondingly lower than for closely conforming grooves, and only modest axial load is permissible.

The type belongs where alignment error is certain to occur and radial load stays moderate, such as long shafts in pedestal housings and in conveying equipment. The open version leaves sealing, initial filling and relubrication to the surrounding design, while keeping the rolling chamber accessible for a directed supply of lubricant. The stainless steel version is intended for damp, wet or chemically loaded surroundings and for applications demanding freedom from rust; its load ratings sit somewhat below those of standard bearing steel.

The normal radial clearance recorded corresponds to the standard class and suits ordinary fits and temperature conditions.
