As a thrust ball bearing, this bearing carries axial loads only and must not be loaded radially. For this ZEN bearing, 60x85x17 mm and a weight of 0.278 kg apply; the specification table holds the further technical particulars. This variant features stainless steel. Where an axial bearing position is washed or rinsed regularly, stainless steel takes the place of the through-hardened standard material.

In stainless steel too, the design remains a purely axial arrangement: the balls run between flat washers, radial forces belong at a separate bearing position, and a permanently acting minimum axial force maintains rolling contact. The material improves resistance to moisture, condensation and cleaning media and saves an additional surface protection in such mounting positions, for example in food, beverage and packaging technology.

Compared with standard bearing steel the load rating is lower, which must be taken into account when selecting the size for the required axial force. For permanent contact with aggressive media the resistance should be verified in each individual case; the squareness of the seating faces to the shaft axis remains just as decisive. For the design, axial force, speed, the surrounding medium and the lubrication concept should be assessed together.
